The Amazon Jungle of Iquitos

Day 01 Lima

Arrival in Lima.

Assistance at the airport to transfer you to the hotel.

Day 02 Lima /Iquitos

Transfer by walking from the airport hotel to take your flight to Iquitos

Reception at the airport, brief city orientation and transfer to the Explorama dock. Twenty-five mile journey down the Amazon River to Ceiba Tops, where rooms with air conditioning and private bathrooms provide the comforts of home in the rainforest. Afternoon hike in the beautiful primary rainforest reserve surrounding the lodge which includes many huge trees festooned with epiphytes. After dinner there may be local flute or guitar music at the El Toucan Bar or the guides are always ready to relate some of the many legends of the Amazon forest.   (B,L,D)

Iquitos main Plaza - Peru

Day 03 Iquitos

Morning boat ride, spotting for dolphins, to visit a small village of Yagua Indians where your guide will explain the local Yagua Indian culture and how it was affected by the arrival of Europeans and the passing of time. There will also be an opportunity to see some of the local crafts and for a demonstration of the blowgun which some of the Yagua elders still use for hunting. Afternoon walking excursion to the neighbouring town of Indiana. Originally a Franciscan mission, Indiana has grown into a large river community with its own market, high school and small hospital.   (B,L,D)

Iquitos - Peru

Day 04 Iquitos /Lima

Your choice of morning walking or boating excursion to further enjoy the rainforest and the Amazon River.

Afternoon, transfer to Iquitos and to the airport.   (Lunch will be served if the departure flight permits)

Due to the ever-changing nature of the rainforest, day by day activities may vary due to local conditions.

Arrival in Lima, assistance at the airport and transfer by walking to the hotel.   (B,L)

Iquitos - Peru

Day 05 Lima /Cusco

Transfer by walking from the airport hotel to take your flight to Cusco

Arrival in Cusco; meet and greet at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the morning at leisure for your own activities.

Today you will visit to the most important Cusco's landmarks of both The Inca and the Colonial times. Visit to Korikancha (the ancient temple of the Sun), and the Colonial monuments like the Cathedral and the Museum of Colonial Art. Visit the archaeological park of Saqsaywaman (the fortress-temple), the nearby shrines of Kenko (funeral worship) and Tambomachay (cleansing water rituals). Also, the ancient Tambo of Pukapukara, Inca's storage place. In the afternoon, enjoy a walking city tour to Cusco; visit the most important Cusco’s landmarks of both, The Inca and The Colonial times. Visit to Korikancha (the ancient temple of the Sun); visit the Colonial monuments and The Cathedral of Cusco.   (B)

Day 06 Cusco /Machu Picchu

Transfer from the hotel to the Ollantaytambo train station.

Machu Picchu – "The lost City of the Incas", "Cultural heritage of mankind", are some of the names given to this wonderful stone City constructed with an incredible technique for its era and even for present times. Stone upon stone, fitted together perfectly without any cement, with impressive delicacy, exquisite detail and discrimination worthy of the world’s greatest palaces.

In the afternoon; back to Aguas Calientes to overnight at the chosen hotel   (B,L)

Day 07 Machu Picchu /Cusco

In the morning, take advantage of an extra day at leisure in the lost area of the Incas, and explore it on your own.

In the afternoon, take the train back to Ollantaytambo and transfer to your hotel in Cusco.   (B)

Day 08 Cusco /Sacred Valley

Visit to the Pisac Market, in the town of Pisac in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Departure from Pisac towards the Sacred Valley on the north, and going through the plateau, then descend to Urubamba and finally Ollantaytambo, a typical Inca community located at 21 km from Urubamba town. Lunch will be served at the Tunupa Valley.   (B)

Day 09 Cusco /Lima

Transfer from the hotel to the airport to take your flight to Lima.

Arrival in Lima, assistance at the airport and transfer by walking to the hotel.   (B)

Day 10 Lima

Today, at the convenient time you will be transferred from the hotel to the airport to take your International flight back home.   (B)
