Mexican Heritage

 

DAY 1:
UPON ARRIVAL INTO MEXICO CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
You will be met by our Rep and transported to your Hotel where you will enjoy a welcome coctail.

DAY 2:IRLexotic - Mexican Heritage
MEXICO CITY
After breakfast your guide will pick you up and take you to COYOACAN and the FRIDA KALHO MUSEUM.
Frida Kalho painted most of her works in this, her Coyoacan home known as the ‘Blue House’. The Museum is filled with her paintings and history of the tormented relationship she had with her husband Diego Rivera. We then head back to our hotel where if you wish, a short tour of the Zocalo can be arranged.

DAY 3:
MEXICO CITY
After breakfast you will be picked up at your hotel for a visit of the pyramids of TEOTIHUACAN "The place where men became gods" This is one of the most impressive examples of pre Columbian culture. A city which once had more than 100,000 people. Lunch will be had a restaurant adjacent in the shadow of the pyramids, accompanied by MARIACHI MUSIC. This trip includes a visit of the Shrine of Mexico’s most important Religious Figure, La Virgen de Guadalupe (Optional). Evening at Leisure.

DAY 4:
TRANSFER TO SAN CRISTOBAL
Transport to Airport for flight to Tuxtla Gutierrez International Airport where you will be met by one of our reps and transferred to your hotel in the beautiful colonial city of SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS. Enjoy lush green scenery and magnificent mountain views as you are driven to your hotel.

SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS is one of Mexico's most beautiful cities, with its cobblestone streets, colorful colonial style houses, religious monuments and peaceful surroundings.
In the evening enjoy a short tour of the city and if you wish enjoy a cup of coffee and do a little shopping.

DAY 5:
CANYON DEL SUMIDERO AND ECOPARK
After Breakfast we start our adventure.
Recently included as one of MEXICO'S 13 wonders, Canyon del Sumidero is an experience not to be missed. Your Rep will pick you up at your Hotel and will transport you to the point of the river where you will board your motor boat for the beginning of the journey through the Canyon.

Traveling through the Canyon you will not only experience, the joy of navigating through one of natures most beautiful scenic routes you will see crocodiles lounging by the river banks, hundreds of butterflies drinking from the sand at the waters edge and many species of birds.

The GRIJALVA, one of Mexico’s most powerful rivers, runs through this 36 million year old geographical fault. The steep walls of the Canyon reach as high as 1000 meters above the river. One of the many amazing rock Formations we will see is known as the Christmas tree, as the natural formation in the cliff sides resemble a Christmas tree. Before returning to San Cristobal de las Casas we will stop at the SUMIDERO ECO PARK where you will enjoy a BUFFET LUNCH at Jardines de San Cristobal and have time to trek. Visit the small zoo where you will see Parrots, Reptiles, and big cats (Puma and Jaguar). Afterwards have a swim in the Pool which has a breathtaking view of the river. We then return to San Cristobal de las Casas for a relaxing evening.


DAY 6:IRLexotic - Mexican Heritage
SAN JUAN CHAMULA AND ZINACANTAN
San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan are indigenous communities that still hang on to their beliefs and traditions. They are not prefabricated tourist attractions, rather communities that give you an opportunity to see at first hand how they live.

You will visit ceremonial grave yards and enter a world little known or understood by us. You will visit the Church in San Juan where families and their Doctors (Healers) congregate to perform a mixture of Christian and indigenous ceremonies.

In Zinacantan you will get the opportunity to visit a typical indigenous home and see at first hand the ancient art of BODY WEAVING which produces very colorful and beautiful garments and crafts. This being the way the community make their living. You will be invited to partake in a humble meal of handmade tortilla, cheese and sauces and try the traditional and potent local brew known as "posh" you are then transferred back to your Hotel where if feel like a little night life we will provide you with a list of local bars and restaurants.

DAY 7:
SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS
Shopping and day at Leisure in San Cristobal de las Casas.

DAY8:
VILLAHERMOSA TABASCO
After Breakfast we will be heading to VILLAHERMOSA TABASCO. Along the way we will take in the breathtaking scenery and stop for a snack at a typical Mexican restaurant. Villahermosa is the Capital city of the state of Tabasco. With a population of 335,000 inhabitants it is a city characterized by its hospitality and almost carnival like atmosphere. Known as the Emerald of the South east, VILLAHERMOSA is a modern city with an abundance of natural resources. Upon your arrival you will have time for a short break before we start our tour of the city.
We will explore the city centre, known locally as the LIGHT ZONE, and get the feel of real Mexico, taking in its many colonial buildings before stopping for lunch at one of the many typical restaurants that are in the area.
Returning to your Hotel in time for a relaxing evening and perhaps a few drinks.

DAY 9:
VILLAHERMOSA TABASCO
After Breakfast we will visit LA VENTA MUSEUM AND ZOO, an area that is dedicated to the majestic ancient civilization known as the OLMECAS. The area has been divided into two geographical areas, the zoo and the archeological area. The zoo has a collection of local wildlife, while the Archeological area has many monumental sculptures of immense historic importance. After our tour we will have dinner and head back to the Hotel for a break before we head to “La bohemia de Manrique” a typical Mexican Bar for a taste of MEXICAN ENTERTAINMENT.

DAY 10:
After Breakfast, for those whose adventure ends we head to Villahermosas International Airport.
